The Fr Hugh Ross SJ Memorial Scholarship

On the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the founding of St George’s College, Harare in 1896, a scholarship to the memory of Fr Hugh Ross SJ is to be established to allow St George’s scholars to study at the University of Cape Town (UCT). The scholarship aim to provide full funding for fees and accommodation for up to 4 years allowing the candidate to complete a three-year degree and possibly a one-year honours/masters or a four-year Bachelor’s degree. Mentoring will be provided by Old Georgians who are students and faculty at UCT.

The first scholarship is expected to be awarded to a qualified candidate in the Class of 2021.

The Scholarship will be awarded by Gratia International a UK registered charity which supports tertiary education at African Universities. All donations received explicitly for the scholarship will be exclusively used for that purpose. St George’s College will administer the application process and Gratia International will establish the scholarship with UCT to whom the funds will be paid directly.
